Still working on her...

I know!  It's taking me forever to get this mermaid done.  But hey, gotta work when inspiration strikes.  I added texture to her hair with caulking and then a base coat of paint.  I'm much happier with her progress.  Thinking of incorporating some fabric as well...she'll let me know what she needs....

  

I may even work on her a bit today....maybe!

School vacation starts right.........NOW!

Took today off from work to enjoy time with my 2 little chili beans.  The weather is just perfect today; lots of sun, but not too hot!!

Special cake for a special lady

One of my dear friends, who also happens to be my neighbor, is moving away in one week.  Not like she is moving across town, she is moving out of State.  How do you say goodbye to someone that has been part of your life for 10 years ???  

We are having a small, intimate gathering at our house tonight.  Most of our creative friends will be here  to say goodbye and extend well wishes to her.  I made this cake in her honor...I know, I said small gathering, didn't I??  Well, made with lots of love.

Secret Garden gate album

I made this album for a wonderful woman at work who is retiring (so jealous!). I love this paper line and normally would hoard it like so many others....but she deserves the best!  I'm so glad that I broke down and used it...I think she is going to love this!

BTW - I used the Kathy Orta gate fold tutorial, with my own dimensions for this album

Cultivate the garden within

This is a mixed media piece I completed for a challenge at Swirleydoos.com

Used some goopy glue to create the melting heart.  This was a really fun piece to create!

It's finally done!

Well, here is the final product.  The totem pole is complete and awaits it's post at the 8th grade Luau.  I love how it came out; really looks like wood.  The pig looks good too..this little piggy is going to the spit!

The 8th grader finally makes an appearance too!!  Glad she approves....

New mixed media

Here's a new mixed media piece using one of my new Crafter's Workshop stencils.  Looks a little too busy to me...but I'm learning a lot through play.  And I'm having fun.  That's the most important thing!
